This past Saturday February 25th, Semillon celebrated its one year anniversary. Located in Puerto Raiz in San Jose del Cabo, this restaurant offers Mexican and international cuisine in a natural sanctuary, surrounded by gardens and recreational areas. The exquisite menu was created by renowned chef Javier Plascencia and has provided diners a unique dining experience for a whole year.
To celebrate, chef Plascencia hosted a BBQ Festival and invited local chefs to participate in what was a fun, family event. The grills fired up at 12:00 p.m., as guests made their way to Puerto Raiz. A refreshing drink was offered at the entrance to open an appetite for what was going to be a delightful culinary experience.
The guest chefs included chef Paul Zamudio, chef Eduardo Rios, chef Guillermo Gomez, chef Daniel Castruita and chef Odin Rocha; they each prepared BBQ themed dishes such as pulled pork, smoked brisket and lamb sandwiches, roasted oysters and ribs Chef Plascencia prepared his famous seafood paella. There were fresh and delicious vegetables, such as roasted cauliflower and corn. The drinks were offered by Baja Wines, Creyente Mezcal, Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Famila, Las Californias Gin and ECM de Vinos, and offered a wide variety of drinks from artisanal beer, wine, spritzers and mezcal.
Families gathered around the picnic tables to enjoy their meal as the children ran around and played. There was live music to set the scene for the activities, which included a petanque tournament and a mechanical bull! The sun set on this wonderful Saturday afternoon, marking a new year for Javier Plascencia’s Semillon. We’re excited to see what the future brings!
