Film Festival presented by Cinemex announces musical themed section, B-Side, and concert by Natalia Lafourcade The fifth edition of the Los Cabos International Film Festival presented by Cinemex, which will take place on November 9th through 13th, discloses its B-Side section presented by Pepsi. B-Side includes cinematographic proposals where the merge of image and music achieve exceptional results, like The Lure, by Polish director Agnieszka Smoczyńska and Hasta la raíz, a documentary directed by Bruno Bancalara and Juan Pablo López Fonseca which follows Natalia Lafourcade‘s fifth album production. Natalia will celebrate the world premiere of the documentary by giving an exclusive concert at the festival. Hasta la raíz, produced by Casa Elefante, follows the production of Natalia Lafourcade‘s most recent album, which carries the same name as the film. Lafourcade’s album, with which the artist celebrates 15 years of her singing career, is made up of «deep, personal, visceral lyrics with an essence of peace and freedom». The film was shot in Los Cabos, Baja California and Tornillo, Texas and it shows the long journey —emotional, geographical and sensory— that Natalia Lafourcade undertakes to share her internal universe with her audience.      «I’m very pleased to be a part of the Los Cabos International Film Festival, especially with a project that’s filled me with such wonderful moments: Hasta la raíz has been one of the greatest, most loving learning stages that life has given me. For the first time, I get to share the music and the story that will take you through the intimacy of my creative processes.»  – Natalia Lafourcade natalie      The Lure, directed by Agnieszka Smoczynska (Ariel Diva, 2007) tells the story of Silver and Gold, two young mermaids who join a cast of singers at a nightclub in Varsovia, becoming the hottest act in the joint. But the love that arises between Silver and one of her musicians calls her plans and the leading characters’ nature into question. With performances by Michalina Olszanska, Marta Mazurek and Kinga Pres, and music by Ballady i Romanse, the film was granted the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Unique Vision & Design at the Sundance Film Festival, the Best Film Award at Fantasporto, and the Young Jury Award at the Sofia International Film Festival, among several other awards at the Nashville Film Festival. mermaid-nataie The Los Cabos International Film Festival will celebrate its 5th edition as a display of worldwide cinematographic interest, introducing the best talent of Mexico and Latin America to the North American market. logo
