5 Tips to Enjoy Your Destination Wedding

5-tips-to-enjoy-your-destination-wedding

The big day is always filled with a roller coaster of emotions and it’s easy to let them control your mood and spoil your day. Especially when you are planning a wedding far from home. Feeling nervous or anxious about things playing out as planned is normal, but don’t let it get out of hand. We all know the infamous term, Bridezilla! Here are 5 tips on how to enjoy your destination wedding.

1) Don’t Micromanage:

It is impossible to have control over everything that is happening around you at the same time. The best thing to do is to let go and trust the professionals. Too many cooks spoil the broth, as the saying goes. Let the caterers, cater. The florists arrange the flowers, and the DJ play the music! It’s taken you a long time to plan your wedding and now it’s time to enjoy it.

2) Have fun:

Sometimes worrying if people are having a good time takes away from your own fun. On your wedding day, take a seat and enjoy yourself to the fullest. Remember it’s all about you and your lover today, nobody else matters. If you´re having a good time, they’ll have a good time! If anything goes wrong, just remember that no one will probably notice unless you make it a big deal, so don’t! The party must go on!

3) Be grateful for your guests:

Attending a destination wedding can be complicated because of flights, budgets, or schedules. The guests that come all the way for you, are the people that needed to be there. If anybody didn’t show up or couldn’t make it is not that important. The rest can relive it through Instagram! Everyone that is there on your special day is there because you are special to them, and they want to celebrate your love story!

4) Don’t sweat the small stuff:

No one will grade or criticize you on the small things. Everybody will remember the day because of how much fun they had and the energy that the couple emanated and made them feel. The food, drinks and music are just a plus! Remember you are not competing with the local nightlife. It’s not ladies’ night. It’s YOUR night.

5) Being in the moment:

Direct your attention on being present in the moment and feeling the love and attention that you are receiving from your spouse and loved ones. Deep breathing, your support system, and learning to let go will be your allies in this process. Take deep slow breaths through your nose, until you can feel a smile growing from inside you. It will happen without you trying because it’s not every day you get married! Project the happiness, love, and joy out towards everyone. It sounds simple, and it is. Truly enjoy the happiest day of your life!
