PETER RIVERA, DAVID RAITT AND THE BAJA BOOGIE BAND BY KORAL SHOPS – The Koral Shops presented Peter Rivera, David Raitt and The Baja Boogie Band for the 2nd time on Saturday, February 9. The upstairs level of El Merkado was packed with patrons clapping and dancing to the rock and roll sounds of the late 60s, 70s and beyond, while enjoying delicious food and drinks from El Merkado vendors. The group came together to perform the hits “I Just Want to Celebrate,” “Born to Wander,” “Get Ready,” “Big Brother,” “Losing You” and more during this fun free public event. Born and raised in Detroit, Peter was the original lead singer and drummer for the band Rare Earth. David is the son of Broadway Star, John Raitt, and the brother of Grammy award winning international artist, Bonnie Raitt and lives part time in Pescadero. Together with The Baja Boogie Band, he has recently toured the southern Baja, and parts of the U.S. and Canada.@KoralShops
VIP REALTOR ROUND UP AT RANCHO SAN LUCAS – On January 17, Rancho San Lucas opened its doors to local real estate agents and press for their VIP Rancho Realtor Round Up event. GRAND OPENING OF ANTIGUA DE CABO – Antigua de Cabo celebrated their grand opening and ribbon cutting on Saturday, January 26. This newly remodeled boutique hotel located in Cabo San Lucas features a pool, BBQ area, fountain, palapa and a tranquil courtyard. The grand opening included live music, appetizers, desserts, and open bar under a canopy of twinkling lights, followed by a tour of the colorful Mexican inspired 2-bedroom duplex villas and standard rooms. The property is only a short walk to downtown Cabo’s restaurants, shops, and entertainment, and will offer continental breakfast at their on-site coffee shop, Wi-Fi access, and Smart TV’s with Netflix in all the rooms. GRAND REOPENING OF SIMPLY DIVINE CABO – In the short time since they’ve been open, Simply Divine Cabo has made a name for themselves in Cabo home décor and more. On February 2, Simply Divine celebrated a Grand Reopening in their new location next to My Way Too furniture store, just before Santa Carmela Market on the Cabo corridor. Simply Divine carries a large selection of unique beachy items, home accessories, women’s clothing and jewelry, holiday decorations, and high end indoor faux plants with a wide array of pots to choose from. They also offer home and business decorating services along with custom flower arrangements, wreaths, garlands and centerpieces that will never wilt during hot Cabo summers. CIELOMAR ROOFTOP AT VICEROY LOS CABOS – Viceroy Los Cabos recently opened their new Cielomar (which means “Sky and Sea”) Rooftop lounge offering a menu highlighted with fresh seafood, flame-grilled fare and wood-fired pizza oven by Chef Cesar Pita. Dinner options include Argentinian Beef Empanadas, Wagyu Sashimi, Poached Octopus, Whole Grilled Snapper, Marinated Rye Whiskey Duck, Grilled Maple Pork Chop and more! I was invited to sample the new menu concept where Chef Pita went out of his way to prepare each menu item with my food allergies in mind, and also learn all about Industry Night every Thursday night from 5pm to 11pm. Industry Night will feature local prices on food and drink for locals with music by resident DJ Salvo Bonaccorsi from Italy. In addition to their unique and tasty menu, the cocktails at Cielomar and throughout the entire Viceroy property are some of the most creative drinks I’ve found in Cabo!
