Sammy Hagar’s 72nd Birthday Bash at Cabo Wabo Cantina
Every year for almost 30 years, Sammy Hagar returns to his beloved Cabo Wabo Cantina, the cantina he built from the ground up and opened in 1990 when Cabo was nothing more than a little fishing village, to celebrate his birthday along with friends, Cabo locals, and fans who fly in from around the world. The multi-day event sells out every year with thousands of tickets sold via an online lottery system (many months in advance) for the chance to win access to the highly coveted tickets. Last minute ticket hopefuls line up, camp, and circle the block around Cabo Wabo days before the event, just for the opportunity to be a part of the standing room only crowd. Sammy is an American rock vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and musician who catapulted to fame as a member of Van Halen in the 80’s and 90’s. The Birthday Bash is known for having epic surprise performances by Sammy’s rock star and celebrity friends. A few of the special guest performers this year included Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell, who surprised fans on night one of the 3-day bash, and Michael Anthony, who is currently the bassist for the rock groups Chickenfoot and the Circle, and previously the bassist and background vocalist for Van Halen. Sancho’s El Ranchito Fundraiser Sponsored by Tito’s
On Thursday, October 3, Tito’s Vodka and Sancho’s hosted a fundraiser benefiting El Ranchito Rescue. There was a very successful raffle and auction, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to El Ranchito. The rescue collected over $2,000 USD at the event while guests sipped on 2×1 Tito’s Vodka cocktails and foot long hot dogs ($1 from every dog also went directly to the rescue). Local pups lounged on Sancho’s dog friendly patio while their humans anxiously hoped to be called as a raffle winner. Prizes included Tito’s Vodka dog toys, leashes, and shirts, along with gift certificates to many local restaurants, a boat cruise, a massage, handmade jewelry and more! As always, Sancho’s filled up their on-site donation box with tons of goodies for local animals in need. El Ranchito is a no-kill facility that cares for sick, abandoned, injured and abused animals in San José del Cabo. They are always in need of dog food, treats, medications, shampoos, cleaning supplies, bleach, soap, towels, sanitizing hand cleaner, paper towels, etc. El Ranchito also strives to educate the public through spay/neuter programs, adopting vs. buying information, and working with free clinics. They have a small and dedicated group of volunteers but are always looking for new helpers. September Spinners at Breathless Cabo featuring DJ Pup Dawg
On Saturday, September 28, DJ Pup Dawg flew in from Boston for a live guest DJ set at Breathless Cabo Day Club. DJ Pup Dawg was born in Pakistan, raised in LA, and is now living in Boston where he can be heard on the radio Monday through Friday on WJMN JAM’N 945, and on iHeartRadio’s «iHeartRadio 9 at 9» countdown and «Spin Cycle» among others. He has worked with and mixed for the best of the best in the music business including J.Cole, Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, Sean Paul, Jesenia, Samantha J, and international superstar, Kat Deluna. Along with DJ Tavo, who previously played in many clubs around Cabo and now lives in Boston as well, the two brought fresh new DJ talent to Cabo during the September Spinners series at Breathless Cabo San Lucas, with plans to bring other Boston DJ’s in the works. The Breathless Day Pass is a no brainer for tourists and locals looking for an all-inclusive and high energy pool party experience.
