By Bonnie Chase, Bliss Events www.eventsbybliss.comDestination weddings are now making up 26% of the weddings around the world each year. Couples love spending a whole weekend with their guests, saving money, rolling the honeymoon into the wedding, and many other advantages. As destination weddings increase, many couples find themselves taking the plunge here in Los Cabos. Year after year, Cabo appears on the top 10 list of the Best Wedding Destinations in the world, and here’s why:

THE WEATHER IS RELIABLE

The landscape for weddings is constantly growing and changing, and couples are after more than the traditional ceremony and reception. Modern couples are looking for creativity and authenticity. With so many options for where and how to get married in Cabo, couples can give their guests a totally unique experience. Our little town offers couples beautiful picturesque beaches, romantic historic Mexican architecture, sprawling ranches, five-star resorts and quaint boutique hotels, organic farms, modern rooftops, luxury yachts, and more. Cabo isn’t just a beach destination anymore. Not only are there endless options for venues, but Cabo is home to world-class photographers, makeup artists, bands, DJs, floral designers, and event planners like us. The vendors are so renowned in Los Cabos, that other markets are seeking out our weddings experts to provide services in other parts of the world.

SAFETY

Cabo remains one of the safest wedding destinations in Mexico and around the world. Tourism is the only major industry in Cabo, so as a community, protecting visitors is our top priority. In recent years, the development of a 5-point security plan included increased police presence; improved communications between hotels, resorts and law enforcement; more security cameras; and a new $9-million-dollar regional emergency response center. As a result, crime in Los Cabos decreased by 90%. Not only is a low crime rate attractive, Los Cabos offers exceptional medical facilities with world-class doctors and surgeons and state-of-the-art equipment. We hope that no one ever needs to take advantage of these facilities, but wedding guests can rest assured that if the worst happens, that they will receive the care they need. With all of these security measures in places, couples don’t have to worry about inviting their loved ones to Cabo.

THE PRICE IS RIGHT

While Cabo is one of the more luxury, and therefore more expensive destinations in Mexico, your wedding budget will still go farther than it will in the US, Canada, European countries, and many other destinations. Not only is the current exchange rate very favorable, especially against the American dollar, but prices, in general, are lower than you are probably paying at home. While a traveler with an appetite for a high-end luxury meal will have no shortage of options, visitors on a budget can also be very comfortable in Los Cabos. We have planned and executed events all over North America, and one of our favorite things about Mexico is how much more our clients can do with their budgets than they can in other places, without sacrificing quality.

TRAVEL IS EASY

Travel to Los Cabos has never been easier. Currently, over 40 destinations in North America alone are offering direct flights to Los Cabos, and new destinations are being added all the time. The Los Cabos Tourism Board focuses on-going effort to adding non-stop flights from new places, making travel to los Cabos as easy and affordable as possible. In addition to easy flights, the international airport in Los Cabos is a 15-minute drive to San Jose del Cabo, and 35 minutes to Cabo San Lucas. Possibly the easiest thing about traveling to Los Cabos is that most people don’t need to apply for a tourist visa ahead of time. The airline and immigration officials issue them to you before you arrive in Los Cabos. Not only is travel to Cabo getting easier all the time, now that Uber has appeared on the scene, getting around town is a breeze, too.

Consistently beautiful weather, safety, ease of access, variety, the many local world- class wedding vendors, and breath-taking views are only some of the reasons for the growing traffic in Los Cabos. It’s hard not to imagine getting married when standing in the warm golden sand looking out over the blue and green waters of the Sea of Cortez, and gazing at the iconic Arch of Cabo surrounded by the red and purple skies of a Baja Sunset. Throw in hundreds of first-class accommodations, varieties of gorgeous venues, world-renowned golf and deep-sea fishing, countless spas, and more activities than you can imagine, and you’ve got yourself a wedding destination that makes the list!
